Vehicle crashes into Kitchener home, impaired charges follow

Police say the vehicle had initially fled from officers who attempted a traffic stop before it crashed into a house on the city's west side

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a 30-year-old Waterloo man with impaired driving after police say the vehicle he was driving crashed into the side of a house in Kitchener early this morning. 

Police observed a vehicle driving northbound on Fischer-Hallman Road, in the southbound lanes around 3:25 a.m. and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. 

Officers lost sight of the vehicle as it left at a high rate of speed.  

Minutes later, police received a call that the same vehicle had crashed into the side of a house near Uplands Drive and Forest Hill Drive in Kitchener. 

Police removed the driver of the vehicle before the vehicle caught fire.

There were no reports of any physical injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, the driver was arrested and charged with impaired, flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
