Police suspect a burned-out sport utility vehicle found shortly after an SUV was involved in a hit-and-run east of Cambridge on Sunday is the same vehicle.

Waterloo regional police are still investigating after they were called to a collision Oct. 20 in the area of Old Beverly Road and Shellard Road.

Around 3:30 a.m., police said a motor vehicle was hit by a dark-coloured SUV, resulting in the vehicle to enter a ditch and roll onto its roof.

Two occupants of the vehicle suffered minor non-life-threatening injuries. The SUV left the scene prior to police arrival.

Shortly after, police received reports of an unoccupied vehicle engulfed in flames nearby. Officers believe it was the SUV involved in the previous collision.

Police later confirmed the SUV was stolen from Peel Region.
