A 44-year-old Cambridge man is facing a series of charges after police executed a search warrant in Galt today.

Waterloo Regional Police Service's Cybercrime - Internet Child Exploitation Unit said between September and October, police received multiple reports about an instant messaging application being used to upload and distribute child pornography.

As part of their investigation, police completed a search warrant of a home in Galt to arrest the occupant. Police charged the man with possession of child pornography, making it available and breach of a probation order in relation to children.

He was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet.

The investigation was made possible through a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
