Cambridge teen fails roadside sobriety test following crash in Norfolk County

17-year-old was uninjured but faces numerous charges

A 17-year-old driver from Cambridge who crashed his car into a ditch early Wednesday was impaired, according to Norfolk County OPP.

Police were called to the single-vehicle collision on Concession 2 in Townsend just before 3 a.m. where the found the driver uninjured and began a roadside sobriety assessment.

After failing, the driver was taken into custody without incident and charged with numerous offences including:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Dangerous operation,
  • Novice driver - B.A.C. above zero.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe at a later date.

OPP ask that anyone who observes a driver suspected to be impaired, to contact them or the nearest police authority by dialing 9-1-1.
