With deep sadness we announce the passing of Joseph Craddock, age 96. He passed away on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.

Joseph leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Alexandra (Sandra) Craddock. He was deeply loved by his three children Jennifer (Neal), Alisa, and Joseph (Laura). He was a grandfather to four who will miss him dearly: James and Devin LaFontaine and Adelyn and Caelan Koppens. He will also be mourned by many nieces and nephews.

Born in 1929, Joseph had an adventurous spirit even at a young age. As a young man, he hitchhiked across the United States, embracing the freedom and the people he met along the way. These early experiences sparked a lifelong love of travel, and an extensive collection of stories, that he shared with his family. Together they drove the backroads of Ontario, crisscrossed the continent, and circled the roundabouts of Europe. Many lasting family memories were created during these travels.

Throughout his life Joseph worked in many different fields and had many different jobs – always approaching each with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. In addition to his professional endeavors, he was an active volunteer who spent countless hours contributing to his community in Cambridge. He was a key figure in organizing volunteers for the David Durward Centre, and was always ready to help out at the Cambridge Senior Games. Joseph was a true pillar of his community, always ready to lend a hand and make a difference in the lives of those who were lucky enough to meet him.

Joseph’s legacy of service, generosity, and love will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Joseph’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the nurses and staff at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, who showed him kindness and compassion during his time with them.

As were Joseph’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Joseph’s name to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation.
