Woman with young child in stolen vehicle charged with impaired

Waterloo Regional Police have laid charges after responding to a report of a possible impaired driver in Kitchener. 

On Nov. 8, 2024 at approximately 8:35 a.m., a concerned citizen contacted police after observing a female adult who appeared to be passed out in a parked vehicle in the area of Ottawa Street South and Alpine Road. A young child was present in the car.

Police responded and, through investigation, determined that the vehicle, a blue Civic, was stolen, and the driver was impaired by alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 38-year-old Kitchener female, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation – Alcohol and Drugs, Failing to Provide the Necessaries of Life, Possession of Stolen Goods over $5,000, and Possession of an Identity Document.

The child was brought to a responsible party.
