Three teens charged in attempted jewelry store robbery

Two youths and one adult have been arrested and charged after an attempted robbery at a Waterloo mall.

On February 22, 2025, just before 6 p.m., four males entered Conestoga Mall with their faces covered and carrying duffle bags.

Mall security observed the males, contacted police and intervened as the four approached a jewellery store in the mall.

Security escorted the four males from the mall as officers arrived in the area. Having observed the police, the males attempted to flee on foot.

Two of the males were arrested immediately, and a third was arrested at a nearby business.

A fourth male was arrested but was released unconditionally. The fourth involved suspect was able to flee from police in an unknown vehicle and remains outstanding.

At the time of their arrest, the three arrested suspects were in possession of three empty hockey bags, two hammers, and two crowbars.

The males, an 18-year-old from Toronto, a 16-year-old from Mississauga, and a 17-year-old from Brampton, were charged with the following offences:

  • Attempted robbery
  • Disguise with intent
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence

There were no physical injuries as a result of this incident.

The accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing. 

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ Robbery Team.
