Recent robbery prompts buy-and-sell safety message from police

Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a report of a person-on-person robbery in Kitchener.

On Oct. 31, 2024 at approximately 6 p.m., police received a report of a robbery that took place in a parking lot in the area of Queen’s Boulevard and Elm Ridge Drive.

The victim arranged to sell items that they had posted for sale on a buy-and-sell website. During the meet, the victim was approached by four to five unknown suspects. An altercation took place and the victim was assaulted and had their personal property taken.

The suspects were described as wearing all black with black masks.

The victim suffered non life-threatening injuries as a result of this incident.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.

Waterloo Regional Police Service has three Buy and Sell Exchange Zones in Waterloo Region. These zones, which are located in the parking lot of WRPS facilities, aim to provide some additional peace of mind to those who are buying, selling, or trading property online. Members of the public are encouraged to utilize these Exchange Zones when meeting people to finalize online transactions.
