Man arrested for disturbance found to have loaded firearm: police

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a man after responding to a reported disturbance in Waterloo on Saturday.

On March 1 at around 1:45 a.m., police responded to reports of a physical altercation in the area of King Street North and Young Street West in uptown Waterloo.

Police determined an assault had taken place which resulted in minor physical injuries, according to a news release.

Police arrested a Kitchener male involved in the incident and say they located a loaded firearm in his possession.

The 34-year-old male has been charged with multiple criminal offences, including assault, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
