Waterloo police officers went to the man's home and arrested him.

A 49-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with public mischief and uttering threats after police say he made 9-1-1 calls and threatened to physically harm dispatchers.

Waterloo regional police say on Nov. 20, between 7 p.m. and 8:40 p.m., the Waterloo Regional Police Communications Centre received eight 9-1-1 calls from a male who was not reporting an emergency.

The male used profane language while threatening to physically harm the communicators.

Officers responded to the man's house and arrested him.

Waterloo regional police reminds the public to only call 9-1-1 if there is an immediate risk to the safety of people or property.

This service quickly links callers to Police, Fire and/or Ambulance Services. When a citizen calls 9-1-1, the goal is to ensure the appropriate Emergency Service responds as quickly as possible. When misused, it ties up resources that may be needed at other serious and life-threatening incidents.
