Cambridge robbery investigation leads to arrest of Hells Angels

Four men, including one from Cambridge, face several robbery and firearms related charges following the execution of search warrants in Cambridge, Kitchener, Seaforth and Whitby last month

A Cambridge man is among four members of the Hells Angels motorcycle club and one member of the Red Devils motorcycle club who have been charged with robbery after 17 firearms, ammunition and other prohibited devices were seized following a September incident in Cambridge.

The Ontario Provincial Police-led biker enforcement unit, in collaboration with Cambridge OPP Detachment and Waterloo Regional Police Service, began an investigation after a robbery took place on Sept. 21, in Cambridge.

As a result, on Oct. 17, members from the OPP and WRPS emergency response team executed two search warrants in Cambridge and Kitchener.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, on Oct. 24, two additional search warrants were executed by members from the OPP, Huron/Perth OPP and Durham Regional Police Service in Seaforth and Whitby.

The search warrants resulted in the seizure of:

  •         17 firearms
  •         A prohibited device ("get back whip")
  •         Ammunition
  •         Nine magazines
  •         Multiple cell phones
  •         Possession and Acquisition Licences (PAL) from two Hells Angels 
  •         Three Hells Angels vests
  •         A quantity of unknown pills
  •         Stolen property

A total of 14 charges were laid against five individuals.

Four were arrested and subsequently released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kitchener on Nov. 26.

A 38-year-old Cambridge man is among them. The Hells Angels member was charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.

One individual is currently outstanding and an arrest warrant has been issued.
