Kitchener 'person stop' leads to drug trafficking arrest

Officers seized suspected pregabalin, clonazepam, hydromorphone, methamphetamine and fentanyl

A 34-year-old Kitchener man who police say was wanted on warrants and in possession of a stolen bike and several drugs is facing several charges after officers on proactive patrol stopped him in Kitchener last night.

Waterloo regional police said their central division neighbourhood patrol stopped the man around 10 p.m. in the area of Hanson Avenue and Homer Watson Boulevard.

Through investigation, it was determined that the male was wanted on outstanding warrants and was arrested. Suspected pregabalin, clonazepam, hydromorphone, methamphetamine and fentanyl were located and seized. The male was also in possession of a stolen bicycle, which was also seized.

As a result of the investigation, was charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Breach of probation
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
