Waterloo Regional Police has arrested a Kitchener male after a hate-motivated incident in Kitchener.

On Friday, police responded to multiple reports of a disturbance in the area of Highland Road West and Patricia Avenue.

Upon arrival, police learned that an unknown male was making racial comments towards individuals and assaulted one of them.

There were no reports of any physical injuries.

Police were able to identify and locate the unknown male.

As a result of this investigation, a 55-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with one count of assault and one count of cause disturbance.

The male was held for a bail hearing.
