A 42-year-old Kitchener woman who police say was impaired when her SUV crossed the centre line and struck another vehicle, killing the driver and seriously injuring the passenger, is facing several charges.
Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses to the Nov. 11 collision that happened around 7:45 p.m. in the area of Highway 7 East and Reesor Road.
Through the police investigation it was learned that a sport utility vehicle crossed the centre line striking a hatchback travelling in the opposite direction.
The 68-year-old male driver of the hatchback suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced on scene. The passenger of the hatchback was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the SUV was arrested and transported to hospital with serious injuries.
She is charged with dangerous operation causing death, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, impaired operation causing death, and impaired operation causing bodily harm.
Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, and to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the collision, to please come forward.
