Police say they have laid charges in connection with a hit-and-run collision in Cambridge last week.

On Dec. 28 at around 5:50 a.m., emergency crews responded to a collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Saginaw Parkway and Franklin Boulevard. The involved vehicle did not remain at the scene, police said.

The pedestrian, a 27-year-old female, was transported to an out-of-region hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services with non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian was described as a dark-coloured van or pickup truck.

As a result of an investigation, police now say on Dec. 29, a 55-year-old Cambridge man was arrested.

He is charged with public mischief, careless driving, failing to report an accident, and failing to apply for a permit upon becoming an owner.
