Passed away peacefully at University Hospital – London Health Science Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday August 23, 2024 at the age of 53.
Best friend and loving husband of Jennifer (nee Poehlman) for 19 years. Cherished father of Sophie and Spencer. Treasured son of the late Alexander and late Margaret Weatherup and son in law of Greg and Diane Poehlman. Dear brother of Alexandria Weatherup and Gord (Susan) Weatherup and brother in law of Carolyn (Jeremy) Pauhl. Proud uncle of several nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by his extended family in Canada and Northern Ireland. Greg will be remembered as a gentle giant and the “strong, silent” kind of man. He liked to observe unfamiliar situations and not speak too much. However, once you got to know him all bets were off. He was an avid movie buff, had a wry sense of humour, and wasn’t afraid to give a snappy comeback. Greg was an employee of Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Canada for the last 22 years.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday September 11, 2024 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at T. Little Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Cambridge. A Memorial Service to celebrate Greg’s life will take place on Thursday September 12, 2024 at 11 am. Donations in memory of Greg can be made to the London Health Science Foundation in support of the Multi Organ Transplant Unit at London Health Sciences Centre, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
