June 30, 1940 – December 21, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the news of June's passing on December 21 at the age of 84. June was a light in everyone’s lives. Wishing for just one more day with June are Ben (Jim), her devoted husband of 64 years, Laurie and John, Karen and Glen and her six grandchildren Kyle (Marcia), Tyler (Astrid), Chelsey (Tyler), Caleb (Elizabeth), Mallory and Jared. She will also be missed by her extended family of Aaron, Kate and Grayson. June was overjoyed to welcome her great- grandchild Levi this year.
June was the much-loved only child of John and Doris (Jack and Renie) Gregory. She grew up in England and immigrated with her parents to the Cambridge area at the age of 17, meeting Ben, her future husband, shortly after arriving.
June’s creative gifts started early, while dancing in England. They continued into adulthood as she spent many years teaching and creating ceramics in the basement of her and Ben’s home. She eagerly dove into any new creative challenge, showing her beautiful artistry in so many different ways. Our homes are filled with so many of her beautiful creations, from her ceramics and wood carvings to unique stuffed bears, paintings and everything in between.
June’s love of animals started young with her beloved Laddie. She loved all animals, from hugging sloths to swimming with dolphins. From their first dog Whiskey to their final dog Maggie, their home was always full of dogs. She never met a stray she didn’t want to rescue! She and Dad spent many years breeding Bichon Frise pups.
Ben and June’s love story is a shining light for all to follow. Their love and devotion to each other has been an inspiration and beautiful example to follow. They loved to travel and were fortunate to see many parts of the world. Their winters Mexico in their later years were some of Mom’s favourite times.
June faced many challenges in her life head on and with grace and strength. Never one to complain, she accepted the challenges and always forged her path forward. Mom taught us well and lived her life with no regrets. Her zest for life, laughter and immense love of family will be missed every day.
Private cremation has taken place, a Celebration of June's Life will be planned for the near future, and details will be updated on her webpage as they come available. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Cambridge and District Humane Society are greatly appreciated.
