Nursing student surprised with a Random Act of Kindness from CambridgeToday

Aleshia Campbell is a personal support worker here in Cambridge, who has been providing compassionate care for others for the last 23 years.

A single mother of four children, she is also working toward completing her nursing diploma at Conestoga College.

“Aleshia’s journey is a testament to the fact that with unwavering dedication and a generous spirit, anyone can overcome challenges and achieve their dreams,” said her nominator, Amanda Hart. “Aleshia possesses an exceptional ability to see the potential in everyone she encounters and she firmly believes in giving everyone a chance.”

She is described as someone who is always putting others first, who leads with kindness and who stays positive in the face of adversity.

“Throughout our eleven years of friendship, Aleshia has lifted me up and so many others around her,” Amanda told CambridgeToday. “I want her to know that all her hard work is not going unnoticed.”

Since Aleshia is always going out of her way to brighten someone else’s day, CambridgeToday thought she deserved a special surprise herself.

“I never expect anything,” Aleshia told us. “I just do what comes naturally and try to make people laugh.”

We treated Aleshia, an avid gardener, to a gift card to Royal City Nursery and some baked goods from Tiny Cakez to say thanks for all she does and to encourage her to keep pursuing her goals.

“It's an honour to know someone has nominated me for this lovely blessing,” she said.
