Wellington OPP nab Cambridge man driving 'suspicious vehicle'

Man was charged with failing to surrender an inspection report and driving while holding a mobile device

A 45-year-old Cambridge man is facing two Highway Traffic Act charges after Wellington OPP conducted a proactive traffic stop after noticing a "suspicious motor vehicle" in Fergus on Monday.

Police said on Jan. 27, around 2 p.m., members of the OPP's traffic unit were conducting enforcement when they spotted the commercial vehicle on Gordon Street in Fergus.

As a result of an investigation, they charged the driver with driving while holding a communication device and failing to surrender a completed daily inspection report. The driver was also given a warning under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to surrender inspection schedule.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph at a later date.
