Security personnel injured during robbery attempt

Suspect used an 'edged weapon' against the loss prevention officer resulting in minor injuries

Police are looking for a male suspect alleged to have used an edged weapon to injure a security guard who attempted to stop him from stealing merchandise from a Waterloo store last evening. 

Waterloo regional police said on Jan. 27, at around 8:15 p.m., they responded to reports of a commercial robbery in the area of Bridgeport Road East and Weber Street North.

An unknown male attempted to steal merchandise from a store and used an edged weapon against a loss prevention officer that tried to stop him.

The security guard suffered minor non life-threatening injuries and the suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Police are looking to identify the individual pictured above in connection to this incident.
