At around 9 p.m. on March 9, officers on proactive patrol observed a male, driving a vehicle while disqualified, in the area of Weber Street East and Fergus Avenue in Kitchener. The male was also wanted on outstanding warrants. Prior to officers being able to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed.
Later, at approximately 2 a.m. on March 10, officers located the vehicle and driver in the area of Concession Street and Christopher Drive and placed him under arrest.
As a result of the investigation, officers located and seized a vehicle, Canadian currency, ammunition, and suspected fentanyl and psilocybin, worth an estimated $16,500.
The male, a 34-year-old from Kitchener, was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)
- Careless storage of ammunition
- Drive while disqualified
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Possession of ammunition contrary to order
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
