Three fires, two acts of vandalism under investigation

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a series of fires and vandalism to vehicles in Cambridge.  

Between Feb. 5 and 6, 2022, three fires were reported to police. One of the fires involved a car, and two additional vehicles were reported to have been vandalized. 

On Feb. 5, at approximately 6:15 p.m., emergency services responded to a report of a fire in the area of Glamis Road and Elgin Street North. A metal bin at a plaza was set on fire.  

At approximately 9:30 p.m., a dumpster fire was reported at a business in the area of Avenue Road and Elgin Street North. 

On Feb. 6, 2022, police received reports of damage to three vehicles at two separate businesses in the area of Elgin Street North and Avenue Road that occurred sometime during the overnight hours. 

All the fires were extinguished by Cambridge Fire Department.  

No physical injuries were reported, and there was no damage to buildings at the locations.  

These incidents are believed to be connected, and the investigation is ongoing by members of Waterloo Regional Police Service’s General Investigations Unit.
