Police still investigating double fatal collision near Cambridge

Two women, both in their 70s, were killed when the car they were in collided with a dump truck at the rural intersection on the outskirts of Cambridge

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Services Unit are continuing to investigate a fatal collision in North Dumfries Township on Thursday afternoon.

On October 6, at approximately 12:30 p.m., emergency services responded to the area of Shellard Road and Old Beverly Road, for multiple reports of a collision.

Through initial investigation, it was determined that a car travelling north on Shellard Road was struck by a dump truck travelling east on Old Beverly Road.

The two occupants of the car, a 76-year-old Middlesex County female and a 78-year-old Elgin County female, were both pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the dump truck, a 42-year-old Burlington male, reported no physical injuries.

The investigation is ongoing by members of our Traffic Services Unit.
