A 43-year-old Waterloo man is facing several charges after police seized a replica firearm after responding to a disturbance in Waterloo yesterday.
Waterloo regional police say around noon on Nov. 6 they responded to a residence on Churchill Street after receiving a report of a firearm being brandished during a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers arrested a male wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to appear for court and breach of recognizance. During the arrest, suspected fentanyl was located in the possession of the male.
A search warrant was completed at the residence, and a replica handgun was located and seized.
As a result of the investigation, the male, a 43-year-old from Waterloo, was charged with several offences, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failure to comply with a release order and oossession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order.
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
