Waterloo regional police are attempting to locate a vehicle that fled following an assault in Cambridge last night.

On Jan. 5, at around 10:15 p.m., police responded to reports of a male assaulting a female while in a vehicle in the area of King Street East and Westminster Drive North.

Officers arrived and the suspect vehicle fled the area.

Due to concerns for safety of the female, officers initiated a pursuit but due to public safety concerns ended the chase.

The vehicle was last seen travelling east on Highway 401 towards Toronto.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle and occupants in order to determine the wellbeing of the involved individuals.

The vehicle involved is described as a 2020 grey Hyundai Sonata with Ontario licence CVKN 589. The vehicle has damage to the front passenger door.

The driver was described as male brown, 5’10”, 30 years, with a thin build, short to medium length dark hair and dark facial scruff.

The investigation is ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit.
