Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male after an armed robbery in Cambridge.
On Jan. 7 at approximately 1:20 p.m., police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a business in the area of Hespeler Road and Avenue Road.
Through investigation, officers determined that a male suspect was asked by an employee to leave the store, and the male refused. The male armed himself with a box cutter and prevented the employee from leaving. Police were called and the male then exited the store and fled the area.
Officers located the suspect nearby and arrested him. There were no physical injuries reported.
As a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old male was arrested and charged with:
- Robbery with a weapon
- Weapons dangerous
- Forcible confinement
- Fail to comply with release order
- Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
