One charged following stabbing in Kitchener

Police say the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries

Waterloo regional police have arrested a 20-year-old man after responding to a weapons-related call in Kitchener.

On Sept. 26, at around 3:30 a.m., police received a report of a male brandishing a knife at a residence in the area of Joseph Street and Victoria Street South.  

Upon arrival, police located a man outside the residence in possession of a knife and placed him under arrest.

A female victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old Kitchener male was charged with the following offences: 

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Assault causing bodily harm – strangulation
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused and the victim were known to each other. 

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
