Man arrested after Cambridge woman suffers stab wounds

Man fled the scene on foot but was taken down with a conducted energy weapon and arrested

Police have charged a 30-year-old Cambridge man with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon after responding to a dispute at a home in Cambridge on Tuesday. 

On August 1, at around 8:15 p.m., Waterloo regional police responded to reports of a stabbing at a residence in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Robson Avenue. 

Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old woman with stab wounds. She was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

During the incident, the man also attempted to stab another individual at the residence. 

Police located the suspect outside of the residence. The man fled from police, and a foot pursuit took place. 

The male was taken into police custody after a conducted energy weapon was deployed. 

As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with several offences, including aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and fail to comply with undertaking.

The man was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
