Man accused of attempting to rob Kitchener gas station

Police have charged an 18-year-old Kitchener man with robbery after someone entered a Kitchener gas bar and brandished a knife.

Waterloo regional police say on Dec. 10, at around 3:30 a.m., a male suspect wearing a costume mask attempted to enter a gas station in the area of Margaret Avenue and Guelph Street. 

The door to the business was locked and the male brandished a knife towards employees inside before leaving the scene.

The suspect was located by police a short time later in the area of Margaret Avenue and Victoria Street North and placed under arrest. 

Police charged him with robbery, disguise with intent, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
