Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate thefts from construction sites throughout Waterloo Region.

During August, police received multiple reports of electronics being stolen from heavy equipment located on construction sites. The electronics include GPS and computer-related hardware.

The combined total loss in these incidents is estimated to be more than $500,000.

The construction sites were located in Cambridge, Kitchener and North Dumfries.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Waterloo Regional Police are reminding construction site workers to ensure all heavy equipment (bulldozers, excavators, etc.) are locked and secured when the construction site is unattended by authorized personnel. In addition, it is recommended that sufficient lighting, video surveillance, and other security measures are used to prevent future incidents from occurring.
