The drivers of two cars spotted by police in an unmarked cruiser racing down Hespeler Road early this are facing a number of charges following their arrest.
Waterloo regional police say on Nov. 19 members of the traffic services unit were on proactive patrol in the area of Pinebush Road and Hespeler Road.
At around 1:45 a.m., two vehicles, a black Dodge Challenger and a black Honda Accord, were observed passing an unmarked police vehicle at a high rate of speed. Both cars continued north on Hespeler Road and officers conducted a traffic stop as the vehicles pulled into a gas station on Pinebush Road.
A 24-year-old male and a 22-year-old female from Kitchener were arrested and charged with speeding (104 km/h in a 60 km/ zone) and race motor vehicle.
