A 17-year-old Cambridge youth is in custody awaiting a bail hearing after he was in a collision while driving a stolen vehicle.
Waterloo regional police said on Nov. 17, at around 7:30 a.m., they received a report that a Dodge Grand Caravan had been stolen from a residence in the area of Sekura Crescent and Munch Avenue.
At around 1 p.m. the same day, police were contacted by members of the public who observed occupants fleeing from a motor vehicle after it struck a light pole on Landsdowne Road North near Blenheim Road.
South Division Patrol officers responded, began a search of the area, and located one of the involved parties.
At approximately 1:20 p.m., the driver of the vehicle, a male youth, was placed under arrest.
As a result of the investigation, the youth, a 17-year-old from Cambridge, was charged with theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and dangerous operation of a conveyance.
