GUELPH – A Cambridge female sustained minor injuries in a collision Tuesday which left a major Guelph street closed all day.
Approximately 7:50 a.m., emergency crews were called to the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Dawson Road. Investigation revealed a westbound pickup and eastbound SUV were involved in a collision, with the SUV then leaving the road and colliding with a hydro pole.
The impact caused the pole to snap and hang precariously over the SUV for some time. The driver of the SUV, a Cambridge female, was transported to hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released later in the day.
The driver of the pickup was not injured. He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with making an unsafe turn.
Woodlawn Road West was closed between Arrow Road and Edinburgh Road North until early evening to allow hydro crews to deal with the dangerous situation and replace the pole.
