$50K reward offered in 2021 homicide investigation

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is issuing a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the fatal stabbing of Joshua Bennett, 18, from Etobicoke.

The announcement was made during a press conference on Sept. 24, 2024, by Chief Mark Crowell, with members of Mr. Bennett’s family.

The reward is being offered to anyone who provides credible information that leads to the arrest, and successful prosecution, of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Mr. Bennett.

On Sept. 24, 2021, at approximately 4:30 a.m., police responded to the area of Paulander Drive in Kitchener after receiving a report of an injured male.

Upon arrival, police located a deceased male outside near a trail in the area.

It was later determined that the deceased was 18-year-old Joshua Bennett.

A post-mortem examination determined that the cause of death resulted from multiple stab wounds.

Investigators with Waterloo Regional Police Service's Major Crime Unit believe that several individuals in the community have information that could help solve this homicide. 

We are looking to identify and speak with an individual who was seen in the area of 40 Paulander Drive on Sept. 23, 2021, at 7:25 p.m. The male was seen wearing a long dark coat.
