March 6, 1941 – January 2, 2025

Passed away peacefully at Innisfree Hospice on Thursday January 2, 2025, at age 83 with his family by his side.

Survived by his loving children Stephen Whittet and Tara (Nick) Waddell, life partner Helen Loft, grandchildren Tyler Whittet, James Whittet and Stacey Whittet.

He will be fondly remembered by his sisters Ann Sutton, Isabel Pitman and Jean (Scott) Thompson.

Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Elsie Whittet, brother David Whittet, brother-in-law Dick Sutton and son Raymond Alexander Whittet.

He was adored by his three nieces: Angela (Gus) Volpe, Arlene (Andy) Pownall, Susanne (Paul) Vuksic, nephew Ryan Wiens, many great nieces and nephews, Niki (Darrell) Dal Bello and family, Michelle (Joe) Seifried and family.

Raymond “Ray” was born in Clydebank, Scotland and grew up in Kilmacolm. He immigrated to Canada in 1964 and spent the remainder of his life in Cambridge, Ontario.

To say Ray was a Rangers Football Club supporter would be an understatement. It was no surprise to all who knew him that he waited to pass away after listening to his beloved team beat their biggest rival 3-0.

Ray was a proud member of International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Local 128. He was active his whole life playing football (soccer), racquetball and golf. Many people around Cambridge would often run into him at the YMCA, William E. Pautler Recreation Centre, Grand Valley Golf Club, Galt and Preston Legions and The Black Badger.

Special thanks to the staff, volunteers and donors of Innisfree Hospice. The care Raymond and his family received in his final days was invaluable.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 96 St Andrews Street, Cambridge on Saturday, January 11th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. All are welcome.

Fond memories may be shared through the funeral home at www.couttsfuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Ray to Innisfree Hospice would be greatly appreciated: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E346246QE&id=10
