It is with great sadness we announce the death of Margaret Chape (nee Chadderton) on Tuesday June 4, 2024. Margaret was born in 1938 in Lancashire, England. After the war, her family moved to North Wales and when Mum got her first look at the beauty of Wales, she asked her dad “Daddy is this fairlyland?”; and thus started her lifelong love of North Wales. A love she shared with anyone who knew her. Mum and Dad, like many of their generation, emigrated to Canada for a better life in 1961. It was a very hard journey for Mum to leave her family and all that she loved behind. Life wasn’t always easy in Canada, but they made the most of it. They made many lifelong friends and danced many a Saturday night away. Many fond memories were also made during their tenure on Dorset Road. We know that Mum will be missed by many good friends who were like family to her. Margaret is predeceased by her husband John, her parents Stanley and Lillian and her brother David. She will be forever missed by her daughter Jane, her son-in-law John, the absolute lights of her life, her granddaughter Erika and grandson Jared. I have no doubt Mum is now sitting in a garden somewhere smiling and laughing with Dad. A Celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, N., Cambridge on Saturday June 29, 2024, at 2 pm with family and friends gathering and sharing memories one hour prior to service time. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Cambridge Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
