Audrey Georgina Bailey (née Whitely) passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2024, in her 98th year, leaving behind a legacy of love and community spirit. Audrey lived a fulfilling life on her cherished farmhouse for more than 60 years. She was a dedicated member of her community, actively participating in her church, and long-time member of the Galt Horticultural Society and Women’s Probus Club.
Audrey was predeceased by her beloved husband John, son Peter, and grandson Roy. Audrey will be deeply missed by her daughter Nancy (Peter), son Brett, and her grandchildren Lindsey (Jeremy), Josh, Paula, Melissa, and John. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Jace, Jasmine, Emerson, and Gracelynn.
Audrey was known for her outgoing nature and her ability to make friends with everyone. Her stories, enthusiasm, and love for engaging conversation enriched the lives of many. She had a passion for life on the farm, delighted in tending to her beautiful gardens, birdwatching, and a life-long pursuit of higher knowledge.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Audrey's closest friends Diane Houston and Mae McKee, as well as to John Wellwood, long-time friend and later caretaker, for their unwavering support and care.
Audrey’s vibrant spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of being part of her remarkable life.
Visitation will take place at Coutts Funeral Home, 97 St. Andrew's Street, Cambridge on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024, from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Bailey Family Farm, 1373 Edworthy Side Road, Cambridge. Cremation will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Galt Horticultural Society or the Cambridge Humane Society.
