It is with great sadness that the family of Erna Flatt (nee Yantzi) announce her passing on September 4th 2024 in her 89th year.
Erna is survived by her daughters Deb Holtzhauer and husband Glenn of Cambridge, and Lori O’Neill and husband Mike of Petersburg; grandchildren Lena (Brian) Ford; Brendon (Stephanie) O’Neill; Cameron (Jessica) O’Neill; and Dillon (Karleigh) O’Neill. Erna also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Mason & Emma Ford; Declan & Avery O’Neill and Evelynn O’Neill – all of whom she loved and adored.
She is also survived by her sister Marlene Ziegler (Roy); sisters-in-law Dorothy and Ruth; and many nieces and nephews.
Erna was predeceased by her husband Bill (2002) and grandson Matthew Holtzhauer (2005).
Erna is the daughter of the late Noah and Lena Yantzi and predeceased by brothers Ernest (her twin), Laverne, Wayne, Syl and Elwood; and sisters Laurene Bender, Reta Schmidt, Sabina Randall and Freda Schwartzentruber, and in-laws Vern Bender, Jack Randall, Bill Schmidt, Nancy Yantzi, Betty Yantzi and Harold Schwartzentruber. And also, predeceased by her in-laws Gordon and Evelyn Flatt.
A private family visitation and funeral will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
