NEWS RELEASE
REGION OF WATERLOO
*********************
In anticipation that more groups will become eligible for a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and that Health Canada will approve the vaccine for children aged 5-11 sometime this fall, the Region of Waterloo is reopening the local appointment booking system.
An appointment-based approach will make it easier for Waterloo Region to prioritize administering first and second doses to children while administering booster doses to individuals who will benefit from additional protection while the Delta variant is still in circulation.
As of Monday, November 1, residents will need to have an appointment to get a second or third dose of vaccine at a Waterloo Region vaccination clinic. An exception to this will be for those 12 years of age and older who require a first dose of the vaccine. Those who still need a first dose can walk into a regional vaccination clinic anytime, anywhere.
Beginning Saturday, October 30, residents will be able to book their appointment to get a second or third dose of vaccine: regionofwaterloo.ca/GetaVaccine
Residents can find out which groups currently qualify for a third dose on the Region of Waterloo website: regionofwaterloo.ca/ThirdDose
Vaccines continue to be available from some family physicians for their patients and at many pharmacies.
