Mural art can be seen on the side of several buildings in Galt.

Art enthusiasts in Cambridge will have the opportunity to learn more about the city’s rich artistic history over the coming months.

Stroll Walking Tours will open their 2023 spring season with a guided walk through downtown Galt on May 18 at 6 p.m.

Participants will learn more about the Cambridge International Street Art Festival that produced several building murals in the core.

The tours are ideal for art lovers, downtown lovers and the artistically curious and are done in partnership with the Downtown Cambridge BIA.

“Cambridge has some murals that are truly hidden gems,” Juanita Metzger, owner of Stroll Walking Tours, said.

“The works by international artists are rare within Waterloo Region and more people should know about them. My hope is that it helps to connect people to the spaces and history of their city that they didn’t know about before.”

The tours allow residents to slow down and see the city in a way they may never have before, Metzger says.

“Walking in any area makes you look at things in a different way. Walking tours are really about observing, looking and paying attention to things at a different pace.”

Beginning at 27 Dickson St, the walks are roughly 90 minutes in length and covers two kilometres. Tickets are $30.
