The Cambridge Food Bank is experiencing the highest number of visitors in its 39-year history, making this year’s holiday season more critical than ever. However, the ongoing Canada Post strike threatens to disrupt the Food Bank’s largest annual fundraiser, which provides essential support for the community not just during the holidays but throughout the year.
"We rely heavily on the donations generated by our sponsorship letters to sustain our programs year-round," said Dianne McLeod, CEO of the Cambridge Food Bank. "With the mail disruption, we are deeply concerned about how this will impact our ability to serve the growing number of people in need."
In response, the Cambridge Food Bank is calling on the community to come together to ensure no one goes without this holiday season. There are several ways to donate:
- Online and E-Transfer Options: Donations can be made online at www.cambridgefoodbank.org or via etransfer to [email protected]. To receive a tax receipt, donors are asked to include their full name, address, phone number, and email address in the e-transfer notes.
- Drop-Off Location: Donations can be dropped off at 54 Ainslie St. S., Cambridge, Monday through Friday 9 am - 5 pm.
- Donation Pick-Up: The food bank will arrange to pick up monetary donations for those who contact Sarah, our Donor Development Manager at [email protected] or call 519-622-6550 ext. 101.
"We need the community's help now more than ever," McLeod emphasized. "This is our most important fundraiser of the year, and every dollar raised helps ensure we can meet the rising demand—not only during the holidays but all year long."
