The Preston Figure Skating Club has a long and storied history in the area, from its humble beginnings in 1958, with 50 members and one coach.
“The Preston Figure Skating Club has trained competitors at the Olympic Winter Games, the International circuit and World events since 1974,” said a spokesperson for the club. “Much of this representation has been in the pairs category. Without the fantastic coaching staff of the Preston FSC, we would never have been able to accomplish these results!”
In addition to sending skaters all over the world to compete, the club trains and teaches students to develop skills and advance through the CanSkate program right here at home.
The 61st annual Preston Figure Skating Club Gala is a chance for community members to see and all that Preston FSC members and alumni have learned this year and through their years of training.
“We are excited to present the 61st annual Preston Figure Skating Club Gala!” said the spokesperson. “This state-of-the-art, professional quality ice show features the incredible skating skills of our members, from beginners to competitive athletes, as well as special performances by our talented alumni.”
“The Gala is a breathtaking celebration of talent, dedication, and passion!” continued the spokesperson. “Our club members and alumni love to show everything they have learned and be part of a beautiful evening of entertainment for the whole community.”
The Gala takes place April 5, with two shows, one at 2 and one at 7 p.m., at the Hespeler Arena. Tickets are on sale now and are already going quickly. Tickets are available online here.
