City offers 'try before you buy' promotion for recreation programs

This season's new recreation guide includes a 'try before you buy' promotion through April 6

The City of Cambridge’s Spring and Summer Recreation Guide has been officially released, featuring a variety of programs across the city.

The guide also includes a number of free programs as a part of the “Try Before You Buy” promotion.

Teresa Chiavaroli, communications manager at the office of the city manager - corporate communications said the Try-Before-You-Buy promotion is intended to help reduce hesitation around registering for activities with the reassurance of a risk-free, no-obligation trial period.

"It also allows people to try several new activities to find the right fit for themselves - all without commitment."

Free programming for all ages and child and youth is available March 22 to 28, and includes activities like pickleball, basketball, ballet, dance and crafts. Free programming for 18+ adults and older adults is available March 31 to April 6, and includes yoga, zumba, watercolours and meditation.

The recreation guide also includes programs like summer camps, aquatics, arts and culture, sports, STEAM and events across the city.

Programming is offered for preschool aged children up to 50+ adults.

According to Chiavaroli, the Activities Guide is designed to highlight city programs that offer residents opportunities to enhance their physical health, mental well-being, social connections, and cultural experiences.

"These activities aim to provide enjoyment, relaxation, and a refreshing break from daily routines, supporting a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.”

Also highlighted in the guide are Cambridge’s four 50+ recreation centres; Allan Reuter Centre, David Durward Centre, William E. Pautler Centre and Ted Wake Centre.

According to the guide, these centres provide “a great variety of recreational, fitness, social, educational and athletic opportunities”. They host clubs and feature conditioning rooms.

They will also be hosting a series of technology courses and weekly technology support sessions geared towards 50+ adults.

The digital version of the recreation guide can be found at Cambridge Online Registration for Activities and Leisure (CORAL) website. Physical copies can be found at city hall, the Cambridge Farmers Market, all city recreation centres and arenas, Cambridge Public Library and neighbourhood associations.

Registration for recreation programs opens March 19th. Registration begins at 7am for aquatic programs and 8:30am for all other programs.
