Waterloo Regional Police say threats to local schools are of no concern for public safety

Waterloo Regional Police investigated potential threats of violence at two local schools.

On Oct. 28, 2021, at approximately 9:30 a.m., police responded to Jacob Hespeler School on Holiday Inn Drive in Cambridge for multiple reports of concerning posts on social media.

On Oct. 28, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m., police responded to St. Mary's High School on Block Line Road in Kitchener for similar reports.

The posts referenced potential violence toward the school, staff, and students. Through investigation, police determined that the threats originated from a school in the United States. There is no concern for public safety in Waterloo Region at this time.
