Two Cambridge residents are in police custody, including a federal parolee, following a drug investigation that concluded with police executing a search warrant at a Preston business yesterday.

Waterloo regional police seized drugs and firearms and arrested the two individuals in connection to a controlled drug and substances act investigation.

Earlier this month, WRPS’ Offender Management Unit (OMU) began an investigation into the trafficking of controlled substances throughout Waterloo region.

As part of that investigation, on Thursday, investigators completed search warrants at a residence and a commercial business in the Preston area of Cambridge.

Police seized a sawed-off shotgun, approximately 100 rounds of ammunition, body armour, replica handguns, suspected fentanyl, suspected cocaine, pills, and Canadian currency.

A 37-year-old Cambridge female was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I substance and is scheduled to appear in court on March 10.

A 44-year-old male, a federal parolee from Cambridge, was arrested and charged with several offences, including:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to a prohibition order (two counts)

The male was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
