Traffic stop leads to multiple charges in Puslinch Township

The 30-year-old Burlington driver was charged with multiple offences under the Highway Traffic Act

A 30-year-old from Burlington faces multiple charges following a traffic stop on the 401 in Puslinch Township on March 12, 2025.

PUSLINCH TWP — The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Unit identifies 11 offences in relation to a traffic stop.

On March 12, 2025, at approximately 1:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Unit were performing a traffic enforcement initiative and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401, within Puslinch Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old from Burlington is charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Environmental Protection Act with:

  • Defective braking system
  • Improper brakes on trailer
  • Overweight vehicle - violate permit …kg
  • Improper tires - drawn vehicle
  • Improper muffler - motor vehicle
  • Person - knowingly permitting operation of vehicle-emission control equipment not complying with regulations

Additionally, the accused was also given warnings under the Highway Traffic Act for:

  • Operate unsafe combination of vehicles
  • Improper tires - drawn vehicle
  • Fail to ensure performance standards are met
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Fail to surrender permit for trailer
