Suspect arrested in Kitchener robbery investigation

Accused sprayed store employees with a 'noxious substance' then fled the scene, police say

Waterloo regional police have made an arrest in connection to a robbery investigation in Kitchener in which a noxious substance was sprayed at employees of a retail outlet.

On Nov. 9, at around 3 p.m., police responded to the area of King Street East and Sportsworld Drive for reports of a robbery involving a weapon.

A lone unknown female entered the store, concealed multiple items, and attempted to leave without paying. When staff approached, the female pulled out a noxious substance and began to spray it at the employees. The female then fled the area. 

As a result of the investigation, on Nov. 21, 2024, a 36-year-old Kitchener female was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Administer a noxious substance
  • Weapons dangerous
  • Breach of release order

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
