Speeding in wrong direction leads to impaired driving charges

Waterloo Regional Police have laid impaired driving charges after responding to a driving complaint.

On Oct. 19, 2024 at approximately 10:50 a.m., a concerned citizen contacted police about a red Hyundai travelling at high speeds in the wrong direction on Fischer-Hallman Road in Kitchener.

Police responded and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle on Keats Way in Waterloo and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 24-year-old Waterloo male, was arrested and charged with impaired operation – alcohol and drugs and impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration.

The accused was issued an immediate 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension (ALDS) and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 18, 2024.
