School bus driver charged in collision involving ION

Children were on the bus at the time, but no injuries reported

Waterloo regional police have charged a 66-year-old school bus driver after a school bus and the LRT collided in Kitchener on Friday.

Police said on Nov. 29, at around 4:10 p.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision between a school bus and an ION Light Rail Transit (LRT) vehicle on Ottawa Street South near Maurice Street.

The school bus had children on board at the time of the collision and there were no reported physical injuries.

The driver and passengers of the LRT reported no physical injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the bus driver, a 66-year-old male was charged with Change Lane - Not in Safety.
