Waterloo Regional Police has arrested a Cambridge male after a child pornography investigation.

On Friday, Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Cybercrime – Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit completed a search warrant at a Cambridge residence which resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old male.

The male initiated contact with a person online who he believed to be a female youth. The “female” was part of an online undercover police operation. Throughout their communications, the male discussed sexual explicit acts involving the child, and attempted to solicit intimate images from the youth.

As a result of the joint investigation involving Saskatoon Police Service, the male has been charged with luring a child, making child pornography, and attempting to make child pornography.

The male has been held for a bail hearing.
